Overview

Visit Ooty, which is also known as Udhagamandalam. It’s a beautiful little city with pleasant weather and serene landscapes. Ooty is situated in Nilgiri Mountains near Tri Junction of states Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. Explore the “queen of hill stations” in a fully air-conditioned vehicle with a professional guide.

One of must do list of Ooty trip. Curious to try a mountain railway. Plus it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well. A priceless experience. I took a one-way journey from Ooty to Coonoor station.Basically you can enjoy the breathtaking view of The Nilgiris mountain from the train along the way

Pykara Lake

The boating at pykara is very scenic and soothing to the senses. Not much different from boating at other places in terms of infrastructure but the surrounding natural environment makes it worth it.

A huge lake. Surrounded by a forest. Beautiful. I’ve been told that some animals come down to drink from this lake in the evening. We went around through the lake by boat.

Pykara Falls

Around 20 km from Ooty, situated at pykara village, this waterfalls amidst the forest is a must visit place when you are at Ooty. Falls can be reached by walking 500 mts from the parking. There are barricades set up for one’s safety and you are not allowed to play in the falls.

Beautiful garden and beautiful falls.. clean and pleasant atmosphere… Little cold atmosphere.. kids play zone and good landscape.. one Ganesh temple on the way… Good place to visit with family and friends

Upper Bhavani Lake

beautiful and clean lake.it is good place to hangout with both family and friends. Beautiful view, pretty nature, clean blue water& reserved forest area.Bus & jeep available by forest department for visit, this place charges applicable Rs. 300 per person, amazing experience.

It is one of mini dal lake of south india which has mountain and cool climate surrounding it and it is very calm place to explore feeling of lake..

Doddabetta Peak

Excellent view points down the valley. Good scenaries. Can easily spend half day at this place. This should be the first place to visit when I’m Ooty for pleasure trips.

Avalanche Lake

Best beautiful place in ooty. Must visit this place.Because avalanche situated in the forest and the way is very beautiful and adventure. Forest officers won’t allow private vehicle to forest.Only forest vehicle allowed.A wild life Safari trip in a covered van is a good option.

Mudumalai National Park

Mudumalai national park has good population of animals and often you are able to see peacocks and animals like dear, bisons, elephants, bear etc.
The forest cover is good and dense and its a pure matter of chance that you are able to even watch a live tiger.
Mudumalai can be reached from Kozhikode, Coimbatore or Benguluru (via Mysuru, Bandipur).
Coimbatore route has hills and valleys with sharp turns, Benguluru route is plain flat.

Government Rose Garden

Excellent huge garden.
Great for a walk close to nature.
Crowd and little place to walk but manageable.
Nice to sit in the huge garden among greenery.
Greenery nicely maintained.
Clean. The garden is spread across a hillside slope and is not flat and even but is great snd effortless to walk.
Most of rose plant and roses seem to be affected by some sort of infection.
Rose plants have no description anywhere .
Confusing names for each rose plant.
Don’t go for roses. Go for nice walk in the park close to nature and some nice air.

Emerald Lake

They provide boat tours both speed and pontoon. It was wonderful just to sit and look at the lake. Amazing view and they have a restaurant as well.

A small lake located in Emerald. Not too crowded like the other tourist places, nice place to spend some time.
It is around 1.5 KM from the dam site which further leads to the power generation station. There are no restrictions for visiting this lake. A few years ago there were no proper roads and there was a police check post where the entry was restricted. Now there is a proper road and at few places the road is getting widened.

Tea Museum

During our vacation in Ooty we had visited this popular Tea Factory and Museum which is located on the road to Dodabetta Peak. We had visited on a Saturday morning and the place was buzzing with tourists. Entrance tickets are priced at 10 rupees per person. The Museum section is small and highlights the history of Nilgiri tea. The Factory has different machines and we walked around checking the entire tea making process. At the end we were given free tea to sample. There is also a chocolates Factory and outlet to buy tea and chocolates.
